FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How Snaptiq works, how it uses AI, where it runs, and how to buy it. Can’t find your answer? Ask us.

The platform

What is Snaptiq?

Snaptiq is a governed training content platform. It takes authoritative source material through analysis, instructional design, production, verification and sustainment, and produces finished, assessed training in which every scene, objective and question traces back to its source.

When the source changes, Snaptiq identifies exactly which scenes are affected, so only those are reworked.

What source material can Snaptiq work from?

Any authoritative source your training has to stay faithful to: technical manuals, standard operating procedures, policies, regulations, OEM documentation and subject-matter expert knowledge.

Plain text, Markdown and XML are read directly. PDF and Word documents are read with AI document reading on deployments that have it enabled.

How does Snaptiq work with our LMS?

Snaptiq builds and maintains the content; your LMS delivers it. Each training exports as a SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 or cmi5 package: one self-contained page that plays the captioned video (or the audio-described version) with its transcript, gives the test, and reports completion and score to your LMS.

Everything else comes in open formats too: MP4 video, captions and transcript; question sets as QTI, Moodle XML or GIFT; script, storyboard and brief as Word documents; and the traceability matrix as Excel and CSV.

What does “traceable” mean in practice?

Each scene is linked to a specific paragraph of a specific revision of a specific source document, and the citation is shown on the player while that scene plays. Learning objectives, requirements and test questions are linked the same way.

Approval to produce is refused until every scene cites a source, and the traceability matrix can be exported at any time.

What happens when our source document is revised?

Register the new revision in Snaptiq. It compares the new revision with the old one paragraph by paragraph, flags only the scenes that cite paragraphs that changed, and carries everything else forward with its approval intact. Content that is out of date is ranked above content that is merely due for a calendar review.

Who approves content?

Your people. Decision gates are reserved for customer roles and enforced by the platform itself, and every approval records its criteria and the exact version approved. If an approved scene is edited afterwards, its approval shows as stale until it is approved again.

How does Snaptiq handle safety-critical content?

A scene that cites a WARNING or CAUTION must be marked safety-critical before it can be approved. A warning in the source that no scene covers is reported as a discrepancy. In the finished video, safety content is announced and read more slowly than the steps around it.

Does Snaptiq include assessment?

Yes. Questions are written from the approved design, so they only test what the training teaches. Each question is tagged to objectives, Bloom’s level and difficulty, checked by rules, and approved by a subject-matter expert. Question sets export as QTI 1.2 (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L), QTI 2.1, Moodle XML, GIFT, Excel and Word, with answer keys and a syllabus, and they travel inside the SCORM and cmi5 packages.

Can our authors bring in their own video?

Yes. Authors can upload footage, screen recordings or existing training. With automatic video analysis enabled, Snaptiq transcribes the video and reads its on-screen text, then suggests which part of the footage fits each scene. Authors confirm the ranges, and Snaptiq breaks the result down into captions, transcript, chapters, storyboard, traceability matrix, questions and LMS packages.

For a finished video you already have, register its governing source and Snaptiq produces a discrepancy list: an outdated revision, untraced segments, citations to text that has since changed, and safety paragraphs no segment covers.

What kinds of video can Snaptiq produce?

Each scene can be produced from filmed footage, screen recordings, narrated cards, avatar presenters or AI-generated illustration, and a single training can mix them. Snaptiq renders the finished H.264 MP4 with captions, a transcript and chapter marks, timed to the narration.

How is narration created?

Narration is generated from the approved script by a text-to-speech service. A pronunciation lexicon makes sure equipment names and abbreviations are said correctly. Each scene runs exactly as long as its narration, so captions, chapters and transcript all line up with what the viewer is hearing.

Working in Snaptiq

How much of the work does AI do?

As much or as little as you choose. Snaptiq can draft and produce a whole training from your source, your authors can curate it from their own footage, or you can mix the two scene by scene. The human decisions stay the same either way: people review every draft, confirm every link to source, and decide every gate.

Can we use our own branding?

Yes. Your logo can be stamped on every frame, with your brand colors on the cards and branded opening and closing cards. You choose the narration voice for each project, and you can register your own presenters.

Who uses Snaptiq day to day?

Instructional designers write the brief, objectives, requirements and storyboards. Producers create the media. Subject-matter experts review content and approve assessment questions. Your program managers and QA reviewers make the decisions at each gate. Auditors can read everything without changing anything, and learners see only published training.

Can our production contractor work in Snaptiq with us?

Yes. Snaptiq is built for a joint environment: the contractor runs production in the same workspace, and the decisions stay with your roles. Contractor accounts can prepare, produce and deliver, while gates and final acceptance remain reserved for the customer.

How do reviewers know what is waiting for them?

Every item shows its current stage, what is needed to move it on, and which role takes the next step. Reviewers, approvers and designers get an email when work is ready for them, changes are requested, or work is approved or published. When an action is blocked, Snaptiq says why and who can act.

Can we edit what the AI drafts?

Yes, everything. Briefs, objectives, requirements, storyboards, narration and questions are all editable, and Snaptiq records which fields a person has changed since the AI last wrote them, so human edits and AI drafts are always distinguishable.

Is there a full audit trail?

Yes. Every transition, approval, decision and refused action is recorded with who, when and against which version. Auditors have read-only access to the whole record.

Can we control AI spending?

Yes. Every AI call is metered, and administrators can see usage and estimated cost and set monthly and per-project budgets with an early warning threshold.

What happens if an AI service is unavailable?

The work carries on. AI only ever contributes a draft that a person reviews, so if a service is unavailable the call is recorded, you are told the capability was not used, and you continue without it.

AI

How does Snaptiq use AI?

AI drafts the slow parts: training briefs, objectives and requirements, storyboards, narration and assessment questions, and suggested links between scenes and source paragraphs. A person reviews and approves every one of them; nothing AI-drafted reaches a learner without the same approvals human work needs.

Can we use Snaptiq without AI?

Yes. Each AI capability is switched on separately for each deployment. With none configured, the workflow runs on its built-in tools and your team does the drafting and mapping.

Where does our data go when AI is used?

Snaptiq’s AI capabilities (language models, speech, document reading and video analysis) run on the Microsoft AI services configured in your deployment. AI-generated video uses Google’s Veo model, is available only in Azure commercial deployments, and sends nothing but the scene’s video prompt, and only for projects whose author has given permission on the audit record.

Can AI-generated video prove a step was demonstrated?

AI-generated clips are labeled as illustration on frame and are accepted as illustration only. Verifying that a procedural step was demonstrated requires real footage or a screen recording, confirmed by a reviewer.

Security & deployment

Where does Snaptiq run?

On managed cloud services: containers, a managed PostgreSQL database and private storage, with managed identities and media served through short-lived signed links. Commercial customers get a dedicated deployment; government deployments, now in preparation, will run Snaptiq in the customer’s own government cloud subscription. See Security.

How does Snaptiq fit our ATO process?

We build Snaptiq to map to the security controls government cloud environments require, to reduce the time and effort of your Risk Management Framework (RMF) process. Snaptiq does not currently hold a FedRAMP authorization or an agency Authority to Operate (ATO). Every agency has its own configuration requirements, so we support your ATO with architecture, SBOM, vulnerability scanning and configuration documentation, and when we deploy Snaptiq in your cloud, we work alongside your security team to get the configuration right for your environment.

Government (IL4 and IL5) deployments are in preparation. They are designed to run inside your government cloud subscription and authorization boundary, so Snaptiq is assessed as part of your system.

Which cloud does Snaptiq run on?

Microsoft Azure, in commercial and government cloud, so Snaptiq can run inside the cloud enterprise and government customers already govern. If your organization standardizes on another cloud, talk to us about how it fits alongside your environment. See Cloud & architecture.

How is Google used?

Only for AI-generated video, through Google’s Veo model on Vertex AI, and only when your deployment turns it on. Each project must be permitted, with the permission recorded on the audit trail, and only the scene’s video prompt is sent. It is available in commercial deployments, requires Google Assured Workloads at IL4, and is not available at IL5.

Are any features unavailable at IL4 or IL5?

Government (IL4 and IL5) deployments are in preparation and not yet available. As planned, four features differ. AI-generated video (Google Veo) is available in commercial deployments, needs Google Assured Workloads at IL4, and is not available at IL5. Speech narration is available in government deployments; avatar presenters are not. Automatic video analysis (Azure AI Video Indexer) is available at IL4 but not IL5, where authors map footage to scenes by hand. Email notifications go through your approved SMTP relay in government deployments.

Everything else, including AI drafting, narration, traceability, gates, assessment exports, SCORM and cmi5 packages, captions and audio description, runs in every environment. See feature availability by environment.

How do users sign in?

With single sign-on through any OpenID Connect provider (including Microsoft Entra ID), or email and password with authenticator-app MFA. CAC sign-in for government deployments is in development. Administrators choose the methods for their deployment and can require MFA for everyone.

Who owns the content?

You do. Your source documents, the content produced from them and the traceability record belong to you. Snaptiq is HyerTek’s platform, licensed to you to produce and govern that content, and every deliverable includes the instructions to rebuild it without Snaptiq.

Is the training Snaptiq produces accessible?

Every published video has captions and a transcript, and Snaptiq can produce an audio-described version that pauses the picture while each scene is described. Delivery requires captions, a transcript and a recorded Section 508 conformance check. The platform itself targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. See our accessibility statement.

How is our data protected?

Traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or later, and data is encrypted at rest by the managed database and storage services. Storage is private; media is served only through short-lived signed links issued after the platform checks who is asking. Containers reach storage with managed identities rather than stored keys.

Where is our data stored?

In the US cloud region chosen for your deployment. Government deployments run in your own government cloud subscription.

Can we see what Snaptiq is built from?

Yes. We provide a CycloneDX software bill of materials for every container image, a dependency and license inventory, and current vulnerability scan results with remediation records.

Can we take our content with us?

Yes, at any time. Delivery packages use open formats (MP4, VTT, CSV, Office documents, JSON and QTI) and include written instructions to rebuild each video without Snaptiq.

Pricing & buying

How is Snaptiq priced?

On the size of the library you maintain and the deployment you need, not on the number of seats. Implementation and onboarding are scoped in your proposal, and AI generation and rendering above an included allowance are billed on usage. Request pricing.

Can government agencies buy Snaptiq through GSA?

Yes. HyerTek holds GSA Multiple Award Schedule contract 47QTCA21D002C. Implementation, integration and training services are ordered under the schedule’s services SINs, and the Snaptiq subscription is ordered as an other direct cost under the Order-Level Materials SIN on the same task order. HyerTek also holds other agency contract vehicles, and can work through your prime or a direct award. See How to buy.

Is there an option for smaller teams?

Team & Business workspaces for smaller training teams are coming. Join the waitlist for early access and launch pricing.

How do we get started?

Start with a demo using your own source material. From there we scope your library, sources and deployment, and give you a plan with dates for implementation.

Support & services

How do we get help?

Email support@hyertek.com during business hours, US Eastern time. Include your account and role, where the problem is, what you expected versus what happened, and roughly when. See Support.

What is included with a managed deployment?

HyerTek hosts and operates Snaptiq for you, including updates, database backups and support. Service levels and response times are set out in your agreement.

Do you help with implementation?

Yes. Implementation covers scoping your library and sources, configuring roles and sign-in, enabling the AI capabilities you choose, and training your team. For government customers it includes deploying into your government cloud subscription.

Can a production partner create the content for us?

Yes. Snaptiq is used both by teams that produce their own training and by programs where a production partner does the work inside Snaptiq while your people make the decisions. Tell us which model fits when you request a demo, and if you need a production partner, we can introduce you to some who already work in Snaptiq.

How do we report a security issue?

Report it privately to security@hyertek.com rather than through general support, and please give us the chance to fix it before sharing it publicly.
